There is a deep mysterious freedom to Christina Fasano that strongly connects her to nature, the earth, and the understanding of many things that come from the core of nature and humanity. Possibly it’s from her early childhood days playing in her shady back yard filled with pine trees in Portland, Oregon. The dense thick forests and the strong trees reaching toward eternity and seemingly God. Or possibly she was just born with a knowing for these things and the innate ability to unknowingly live in the inner forest that she carried away with her in her mind and heart when her family left Oregon.
Christina brings this deep understanding of the core of human nature into her art through her music and performance. She presents this dichotomy of ‘freedom within density’ in her contemplative lyrics on life, love, desire, non-judgment and freedom, and in her unleased stage performance where she claims “I disappear and something else takes over. I become a puppet of the performance muse.” This is extremely evident as she captivates her audiences with a charisma that is equal to some of the greatest performers of our time, and a voice that is reminiscent of Janis Joplin, Annie Lennox, and Chrissy Hines. Christina says, "no matter how the audience is reacting or feeling about me, they seem to keep watching!"
During her formative years of 10-12 years of age, Christina was influenced by and longed to sing with the gospel choir in the Pentecostal Church that she attended. The voices and emotions riveted her, moving those deep dark mysterious places in her soul that slowly over time demanded more and more release. Sadly, she never got her chance to sing with the choir, but she soon began to put herself through intense vocal training, acting lessons, musical theory, songwriting and modeling school.
“An artist is opened up by something greater than themselves and from that place flows an essence of their soul, of humanities soul; I would like to imagine that it’s the voice of that ‘something greater.’ It is then up to the artist to present it to their fellow man and in that presentation, to let it go. Let it fly. It no longer belongs to the artist, it belongs to the world and beyond. If it touches one person as it did me in its creation, I have done my part.”
In this Christina invites you to take of what she feels belongs to all of us, as she presents much of who she is, and what she has learned and lived up till now in her first CD release entitled ‘Spiritually Wet.’ She hopes you enjoy the ride!
